Stoneware teapots are characterized by their hardness, opacity (with some exceptions) and low porosity, making them resistant to water. Its glaze, therefore, is merely decorative. The color of the teapot is mostly grayish, although it can have other shades.

Glass teapots are used when we want to see the color of the infusion, or appreciate how the tea leaves open. Their technical characteristics make them more suitable for flavored teas since glass does not retain much of the tea aromas, due to its lack of porosity. They are made of heat-resistant borosilicate glass.

The Tetsubin, of Japanese origin, is a perfect vessel for brewing tea and a work of great prestige for its elaborate creation. Hand-cast, the production process of these Japanese teapots consists of a sequence of 64 to 68 steps, most of which are done by hand. Only 5 teapots can be made with each mold. The quality is controlled by a master craftsman known as "Kamashi". To become an artisan in this specialty it is necessary to dedicate 15 years to this work and 30-40 years to become a "Kamashi". They are suitable for all types of tea, because the inside is enameled, although they must be used with care.

The kettle should not be washed in the dishwasher or washed with soap and water. It should be emptied, rinsed with clean water and placed upside down to drain. It can be dried on the outside but not on the inside. To remove tannin from a glazed, silver or glass teapot, fill it with a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda and leave it overnight. In the morning it is emptied, rinsed well and left to dry. In the case of terracotta teapots, the inside should never be washed.
