Tea, a healthy and refreshing drink for children

If we are in the habit of drinking tea, it is very likely that the youngest members of the family will want to imitate our habit. In our culture, tea and other stimulating beverages are considered something for adults, yet we do not hesitate to offer our children cola, industrial juices and other beverages that are probably less suitable for them.  



 

Children can consume the lowest caffeine varieties of tea, such as green tea or white tea, and there are also many other suitable and healthy alternatives for this stage, such as infusions and rooibos, a South African plant without caffeine and with a pleasant sweet taste.

INFUSIONS AND ROOIBOS FOR CHILDREN

Undoubtedly, the most successful version of children's cups are fruit infusions with ice. Nothing more refreshing and attractive than having mom's tea, or sharing a fun afternoon tea with playmates.

HOW TO PREPARE TEA FOR THE LITTLE ONES?

The key is in the preparation of infusions for children, which is somewhat different from the one we use for adults.

Children prefer their tea to have a light taste. It is necessary to reduce the usual infusion time by half. If for an adult we infuse a green tea for 2 minutes, for children we will leave it for only 1 minute. If they still find it too intense, we can dilute it with water at room temperature, since the serving temperature of an infusion for children should be approximately room temperature, around 26º/36ªC.
