infusión de canela para el bienestar digestivo

Cinnamon tea, an excellent digestive aid

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) comes from the inner bark of the cinnamon tree native to Sri Lanka.

When it dries, it curls up into rolls and make the recognizable cinnamon sticks we use in cooking. The sticks can also be ground into a powder to be used in a variety of recipes, or to make tea.

A very aromatic, heartwarming and full-bodied spice, cinnamon has also been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years, especially for digestive issues.

Let’s learn more about cinnamon tea and its health-promoting properties.

Cinnamon tea: a great digestive aid

What is cinnamon good for?

Nutrient-loaded cinnamon has been used in traditional Chinese and Indian medicine (Ayurveda) for over 5,000 years in association with such spices as turmeric, ginger, clove and cardamom to treat a variety of ailments.

Cinnamon is considered a superfood due to its high content of antioxidants, minerals (magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium) and vitamins C and B1.

It is particularly effective at reducing fatigue, improving digestion and promoting gastrointestinal health among others.

In Tea Shop, to better enjoy the benefits of cinnamon tea and achieve a full-bodied drink, we have associated cinnamon with Rooibos and made our own special blend: Rooibos Canela, a caffeine-free herbal tea that you can consume all day long, included in the evening after a heavy meal.

Cinnamon is also one of the “star ingredients” of two herbal teas: Indian Secret and Indian Yogi, in which it is mixed with some other ayurvedic spices: ginger, cardamom and cloves.
