Acai berries: enjoy their properties in your cup!

Acai berries (açai) are small fruits that grow on Brazilian palm trees.

Packed with nutrients and antioxidants, they have always been a dietary staple for the indigenous people of the Amazon, as well as an important element in their traditional medicine, especially for the treatment of skin diseases or digestive disorders.

Read on to know about the health benefits of Acai berries, and learn why these superfoods have gained considerable popularity in Western countries!

Acai berries: a superfood loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals

The popularity of acai berries is relatively recent.

They are mostly known as the main ingredient of the famous acai bowls, these very thick smoothies made of acai purée topped with fruit, nuts, oatmeal and other delicious toppings, which are served for breakfast or brunch in juice bars and healthy restaurants.

Similar to blueberries, acai berries have a flavour is reminiscent of forest fruits and chocolate.

Fresh acai berries are very difficult to find outside of the countries where they grow.

In Western countries, Acai bowls, juices and other sweets are made from the processed pulp of the fruit, in the form of frozen purée or dried powder.

In Tea Shop we enjoy Acai berries in a smooth and foamy Frappé which we make with our Organic Matcha Acai Latte – a fantastic combination of Acai berries and Matcha powder for an even greater supply of antioxidants!
